Melting pot An inclusive foodhub in the enclave of migrants and immigrants

This project is centered around the everyday food scene in the well-known immigrants' and migrants' enclave Xiaobei where most Africans and Uyghurs choose as their arrival place in the city. 

The current food sector shows a melting society with locals interacting with the minority groups.  You would see Halal butchers, bakery, local farmers' shop are juxtaposed together walking dowrthe main street. Therefore, this project is about inserting a meltingfoodhub into the street and blurring the boundaries between different people.

With obvious difference in food preference, the actors in the foodsector of Xiaobei is always adapting to their unfamiliar neiahbors. They may appear absolutely different on the first sight, but, you would see the dynamic and interactions between them if you stayed a little longer. Local fruit shop owners may start greeting in English. Also, as another ubiquitous characteristic of informal foodsector, cheap and flexible materials are put into use by them to takeover the street and use it as a way of displaying goods.
